A New Competition
- New works are the lifeblood of every art form.
- We therefore believe in supporting composers in this country.
- To that end, during 2009, we will be establishing a yearly competition
for a new orchestral composition.
- Full details will follow at the appropriate time, but amongst the criteria will be
that the piece should be for an orchestra of roughly Classical or Romantic size
and should be performable on minimal rehearsal (one of the
key philosophies of Philharmonia Britannica).
- The winning composition will receive at least two performances
- one with us, and others with other amateur orchestras in different parts
of the UK. There will also be a cash prize
